Congressman Boswell supports a real Medicare prescription drug benefit for seniors, one without a gap in coverage and one that doesn’t hand control of the benefit over to private insurance companies. 
Boswell has voted to ensure that Medicare can negotiate drug prices to bring down prices for seniors. He has cosponsored legislation to provide a Medicare-run drug plan option for seniors who prefer an alternative to private-run plans and create an appeals process for seniors who are denied benefits by their Medicare drug plan.
Congressman Boswell understands the important role that small, community pharmacies play in cities and towns across Iowa. Boswell supports legislation that would help local and independent pharmacies stay competitive in our communities by requiring that Medicare drug plans promptly reimburse pharmacies, instead of waiting months to be paid for drugs that have already been dispensed. Boswell also supports legislation that would provide community pharmacies with fair reimbursement rates from Medicaid.
