As a 20 year veteran, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam, Congressman Boswell has fought for all veterans.  As one of only 66 veterans in the House of Representatives, Boswell has been a champion to ensure our veterans have adequate healthcare – both physical and mental.

Congressman Boswell is a friend of the taxpayer. Since his election to Congress, Boswell has consistently pushed for fiscally responsible, common-sense tax relief that puts more money into the hands of hard working Iowans.

Protecting and strengthening Social Security and Medicare are among Congressman Boswell’s highest priorities.

Congressman Boswell is a strong supporter of conservation and the environment.  As a life-long farmer he understands first hand the necessity for good stewardship practices. 

“Our nation is in bondage to OPEC.  We should look away from the Middle East, and towards the Mid-West for a brighter and cleaner energy for America.”

Congressman Boswell has fought for over 30 years to break the United States’ bondage to OPEC and promote clean, renewable, Iowa grown energy.  In 2007 Boswell was an original cosponsor of H.R. 6, the Energy Independency and Security Act, which makes historic investments in America’s energy security and establishes requirements for renewable fuels production.

Congressman Boswell strongly believes that all Americans deserve reliable access to high-quality, affordable healthcare.

“It’s time to stop playing politics with bills that don’t solve the problem, stand up to the big drug companies, and enact real relief on prescription drug costs for Iowa families.”

Congressman Boswell supports a real Medicare prescription drug benefit for seniors, one without a gap in coverage and one that doesn’t hand control of the benefit over to private insurance companies.

“Iowa’s farmers are among our greatest assets and they deserve our support.”

Congressman Boswell grew up on a farm in rural Iowa and returned to Iowa to farm after his service in the military.  He successfully led his local farmer’s co-op through the farm crisis of the 1980s, when he served as its chair.  Today, Boswell is guided by the values and common sense he learned as a farmer.
